The handover ceremony of the first house under the Decent Living Campaign to the beneficiary family of Mr Ssentongo Abubaker by the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi in Bulegga Village.
Mr Sentongo Abubaker is a 75 year old father of four and grandfather to 3 children living with his wife Mabaga Aidah. Abubaker was laying bricks for sell in order to support his family but after getting a back injury about a year ago which limits him from seating up, standing straight and walking well, he has been unable to continue with his work and the family had been depending on donations and support from the community.
The family of 9 lived in a one roomed house with no windows and ventilation divided into two by a curtain, roofed with rusted iron sheets, un-burnt brick wall and mud floor. The family had no toilet and bathroom and they had to depend on the facilities of the neighbours.
