Adequate and affordable housing
Habitat considers decent housing to be a fundamental human right. We have partnered with families to build, rehabilitate and repair over 40,000 homes, improving the physical and environmental living conditions of family members.
Within the context of a society the impact of these houses stretches from family members to neighbors, relatives and friends through shared amenities such as water and sanitation facilities.
Low-cost technologies
Habitat for Humanity Uganda has integrated inclusive facilities in the construction of houses to enable people living with disabilities staying in the houses to have access. Additionally, we are leading efforts towards promoting appropriate low-cost housing technologies.
Nationally, increasing building costs from the rising price of land, labour and materials hamper efforts to expand the supply of affordable housing. HFHU is engaging the private sector especially those in financing and manufacturing to consider affordable housing.
